JG Speedfit Plastic Push-Fit Adapting 90 Degree Wall Plate Elbow 15mm x 1/2″

The JG Speedfit 15mm x 1/2″ Wall Plate Elbow takes a 15mm pipe into a push-fit socket and turns it 90 degrees to a 1/2 inch BSP female thread, all on a plate you screw to the wall or a noggin. It’s for plumbers and DIY fitters who need a solid fixing point for a tap or valve.

Outside taps are the classic job: the pipe comes through the wall, the plate is fixed to the masonry and the bib tap screws into the thread. It’s also used behind shower valves, for bar mixer feeds and on garage supplies. With the plate fixed firmly, the tap won’t twist the pipe every time someone turns it.

The push-fit end takes 15mm copper, or Speedfit barrier pipe with a 15mm insert. Fix the plate down with suitable plugs and screws before tightening anything into it. The thread is plastic, and Speedfit put a 1/2 inch plastic thread at 3.0Nm maximum, so seal the tap with PTFE and don’t force it. Common Questions

How tight can I screw a tap into it? Speedfit give 3.0Nm as the maximum for a 1/2 inch plastic thread, which is not much more than firm hand pressure with a short spanner. Plastic threads crack if forced, so let the PTFE do the sealing.

Can it be used outside? Yes, for an outside tap, but Speedfit plastic isn’t made for permanent direct sunlight. Lag or paint the JG Speedfit 15mm x 1/2″ Wall Plate Elbow and protect the pipe from frost.

Do I need an insert with this fitting? On Speedfit plastic barrier pipe, yes: push a 15mm Speedfit insert fully into each cut end before it goes in. Copper tube needs no insert. Speedfit only want their inserts used in their own pipe.

How do you take a Speedfit fitting off the pipe? Take the pressure off the system first. Turn the locking cap back until there’s a small gap at the body, press the collet ring evenly in towards the body and keep it held while you draw the pipe out. The fitting can go back on with no new parts.
