JG Speedfit Plastic Push-Fit Equal 135 Degree Stem Elbow 15mm

The JG Speedfit 15mm 135 Degree Stem Elbow turns a 15mm pipe through a shallow 45 degrees, with a 15mm push-fit socket on one end and a 15mm plastic stem on the other. White plastic, for plumbers and heating engineers making neat offsets.

Two of these together step a 15mm pipe sideways past an obstacle, such as a waste pipe, a joist notch that doesn’t line up, or a radiator bracket. Because the stem of one pushes straight into the socket of the next, you get a short dog-leg with no tiny offcuts. It’s also handy where a run has to come off the wall at an angle to meet a valve. Speedfit’s tightest clipped bend for 15mm PE-X is 175mm radius, so this is quicker in a tight space.

The socket takes 15mm copper, or barrier pipe with a 15mm insert. Dry-fit the offset so you can see the angles work, then push the stem into its socket to the 30mm stop and lock each cap. Common Questions

What is the stem end for? The stem is the same outside size as the pipe, so it pushes into the socket of another Speedfit fitting where a short offcut would otherwise go. It can swivel in that socket, which helps line things up in a tight corner.

Do I need an insert with this fitting? On Speedfit plastic barrier pipe, yes: push a 15mm Speedfit insert fully into each cut end before it goes in. Copper tube needs no insert. Speedfit only want their inserts used in their own pipe.

How close to the fitting should I clip? Keep clips at least 60mm back from the fitting so the pipe can expand. On surface runs of 15mm plastic pipe Speedfit suggest a clip every 300mm on horizontal runs and every 500mm on vertical ones.

How do you take a Speedfit fitting off the pipe? Take the pressure off the system first. Turn the locking cap back until there’s a small gap at the body, press the collet ring evenly in towards the body and keep it held while you draw the pipe out. The fitting can go back on with no new parts.
