A male brass back plate M10 has a fixed M10 threaded stud, so a brass munsen ring with a female boss screws straight onto it. It fixes to walls, ceilings or timber. From Plumb Parts in Glasgow.

Description

With a male thread standing out from the plate, the male brass back plate M10 lets a munsen ring with an M10 female boss screw straight on. No separate stud or rod is needed for a close fixing.

Using a male brass back plate M10

It is the quick option when pipe runs tight to a wall. Fix the plate, screw on the ring, drop in the pipe and close the ring. That keeps the run neat in airing cupboards, plant rooms and exposed copper work. Brass pairs well with brass rings and does not rust in damp spaces.

  • Brass back plate with male M10 thread
  • For munsen rings with a female M10 boss
  • Close fixing to walls or soffits
  • Suits copper pipe runs

Look at the boss on your ring first. If it has a female thread, this plate is the one. But if the ring has a male boss, you need the female version with a coupling or stud instead. Fix the plate with screws to suit the surface, and plug brick or block properly. Hold the plate square while you tighten the ring, otherwise the pipe ends up off line. If the pipe needs more clearance from the wall, a coupling and a bit of rod will extend it. See the munsen rings and back plates we list.

Common Questions

What is the male brass back plate M10 for? It’s a brass plate with a male M10 thread, used to fix a Munsen ring to a wall or other surface so it can support pipework.

Do I need the male or the female M10 back plate? Pick the one that mates with what you’re fixing. The male plate screws into a female M10 tapping, and the female plate takes a male M10 thread.

What is a Munsen ring used with? A Munsen ring, or pipe ring, supports pipework and is normally used with screwed or nippling rod and clamps or plates, such as this back plate.

How do I fit the male M10 back plate? Fix the plate to the wall or ceiling with screws and plugs to suit the surface. Then screw the female M10 tapping of your Munsen ring on to the plate’s stud.

What pipe sizes do the matching Munsen rings cover? Our Munsen rings run from 15mm through 22mm, 28mm, 35mm, 42mm and 54mm up to 67mm, 76mm and 108mm.

What are your Munsen rings made from? They come in brass or chrome, each with a single M10 tapping and supplied with brass screws.
