Description

When a buried supply needs to turn a corner, a JG Speedfit MDPE elbow does it in one Push-Fit fitting. Blue MDPE pipe will bend, but not tightly, so an elbow is the neat answer at a wall or a tight change of direction.

Using an MDPE elbow on a water supply

Typical jobs are bringing a supply up out of the ground at the house wall, or turning along a boundary. The elbow keeps the pipe from kinking, which would restrict flow and weaken the pipe. These are Push-Fit, so there are no nuts to tighten in a muddy trench. The collet grips the pipe with stainless steel teeth, and the joint can be undone later if needed.

  • Sizes: 20mm x 20mm, 25mm x 25mm and 32mm x 32mm
  • 90 degree Push-Fit elbow
  • For blue MDPE cold water pipe
  • Joints can be taken apart again

Fit a pipe insert in each pipe end first. Cut the pipe square with proper cutters and clean it off. Push it in past the collet and O-ring until it stops, and give it a tug to check. Bed the fitting in sand when it goes underground.

Common Questions

Can I bend MDPE instead of using an elbow?

MDPE will take a gentle bend, but a tight turn kinks it. Use an elbow at walls and sharp corners.

Can a Push Fit elbow be buried?

Yes, JG Speedfit MDPE fittings are made for use below ground. Bed it in sand and test before backfilling.

Can the elbow be taken apart?

Yes. With the supply off and drained, hold the collet square against the elbow and draw the pipe back out. Look over the pipe end and insert for scoring before it goes back in.
