MT Draw Off Cock Type A 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch

Every system needs a way to empty it, and the MT Draw Off Cock Type A gives you one at the low point of the pipework. This version has a threaded inlet, so it screws into a female socket, for example a tee, a boss on a tank or a fitting at the foot of a riser.

Fitting the MT Draw Off Cock Type A

Pick the thread to suit the socket: 1/2″ for most domestic pipework and 3/4″ for larger tees and bosses. Seal the thread with PTFE tape or jointing compound and screw it in with the outlet pointing down or to the side, where a hose can be pushed on.

To drain, push a hose onto the ribbed outlet and run it to a drain or outside. Then open the spindle with a drain cock key or a spanner. Close it firmly afterwards, but do not force it, so the seal is not damaged.

Why does my drain cock drip after use?

Grit can lodge on the seat as the water rushes out. Open and close it a couple of times to clear it, and if it still drips, fit a blanking cap or replace it.
