Description

The Pegler XPress Press-Fit Copper Male Elbow turns 90 degrees from copper tube onto a male BSP thread. The press end goes on the pipe, and the threaded end screws into a female port on a valve, cylinder, manifold or other kit.

What it’s used for

It connects copper into a threaded female port where the pipe has to come in from the side. Common jobs include drain points, tapping into cylinder bosses, coming off a boiler or plant flow connection, and connecting to manifolds. It saves an adaptor and an elbow, which is one less joint to go wrong.

Use it on hot and cold water, heating and chilled water, as with the rest of the Xpress copper range. It is not for gas.

Sizes available

  • 15mm x 1/2″
  • 15mm x 3/4″
  • 28mm x 1″
  • 35mm x 1.1/4″
  • 54mm x 2″

Fitting tips

Screw the thread in first and seal it with PTFE or a suitable paste, finishing at the angle you need. Then press the copper. Doing it the other way round means turning a pressed joint, which you shouldn’t do. Cut square, deburr, mark the depth.

The female elbow and straight adaptors are in our Xpress copper Press-Fit range.

Common Questions

Which male elbow suits a 1/2 inch drain point?

The 15mm x 1/2″ male elbow. A 15mm x 3/4″ is also listed for bigger ports on 15mm pipe.

Can I turn the elbow after pressing to line up the thread?

No. Screw the thread in to the angle you need first, then press. Turning a pressed joint can damage the seal.

Is the 54mm x 2″ for domestic use?

Not usually. It is mostly for plant rooms and commercial mains, where large threaded connections are common.
