This is a gas equal elbow, a plain 90 degree turn pressed onto copper tube at both ends. Sizes are 15mm, 22mm, 28mm, 35mm, 42mm, 54mm, 66.7mm, 76.1mm, 88.9mm and 108mm.

Pressure limits are 5 bar on external above-ground pipe and 1 bar inside buildings subject to fire regulations. An unpressed joint will show up on the tightness test the engineer carries out after fitting.

Can you use press fittings on gas? Yes, as long as they are gas-rated press fittings like this one, which has the yellow O-ring for natural gas and LPG. Any gas work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Can you use this gas press elbow on water? It is made for gas, with a yellow O-ring and its own limits of 5 bar and -20°C to +70°C. For water and heating, use the standard XPress Copper elbow, which is made for that job.

How do you fit this press-fit gas elbow? Cut the tube square, take the burr off and push it fully home to your depth mark, then press with an M profile jaw. Check the mark afterwards to make sure the tube has not crept out.

How tight should gas fittings be on this elbow? There is no nut to tighten here, as the joint is made by pressing it with an M profile jaw. Any threaded gas joints elsewhere on the job should be made and tested by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

What pressure is the XPress gas equal elbow rated to? It has a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar and works between -20°C and +70°C. Those are the gas limits, not the higher figures quoted for the XPress Copper water fittings.
