The Solder Ring Bent Cylinder Union joins 22mm copper pipe to a 1″ male thread on a hot water cylinder, turning through 90 degrees. It suits plumbers and DIYers fitting or swapping a copper cylinder in a cupboard.
Where it goes
It screws onto the 1″ boss on a vented copper cylinder and lets the pipe drop or rise at a right angle straight away. That saves space in a tight airing cupboard. The union nut means the cylinder can be undone later without cutting pipe.

- 22mm x 1″ 22mm solder ring socket with a 1″ female union nut.
Fitting tips
Undo the union and keep the nut and washer away from the flame. Clean, flux and heat the pipe joint until solder shows all round, then let it cool on its own. Use the right washer on the cylinder boss and do not overtighten the nut on a thin copper boss.

Common Questions
Do I need a washer?
Yes, the seal is made by the fibre washer on the cylinder boss. Use a new one each time it is undone.
Bent or straight cylinder union?
Bent turns the pipe 90 degrees at the cylinder; straight carries it straight on. Pick whichever suits the pipe route.
Does it need extra solder?
No, the solder ring in the socket is enough.
