The Solder Ring Male Elbow 90 Deg has a Solder Ring socket for copper on one end and a male thread on the other, set at a right angle. The threaded end screws into a female tapping.
Fitting a Solder Ring Male Elbow 90 Deg
Female ports turn up on cylinders, boilers, manifolds, pumps and valves. When the pipe has to arrive from the side, this elbow screws into the port and turns the copper away in one piece. The 15mm x 1/2″ suits most water connections, and the 22mm x 3/4″ and 28mm x 1″ suit heating and cylinder work.

Make the threaded joint first, with PTFE or jointing paste on the male thread. Tighten until it points the way you want the pipe to go. Then solder the copper in, using a damp rag on the body nearest the thread to keep heat off the seal. Female threaded versions and couplings sit in our Solder Ring Fittings.

Common Questions
How do I line up a male elbow on a thread?
Seal the thread and screw it in until it is firm. If it is not facing the right way, carry on tightening to the next point it lines up, rather than backing it off.
Can I solder the elbow after it is screwed in?
Yes, if the female part can take the heat. Keep the flame on the elbow body near the socket, not on the thread.
Which sizes match which pipe?
15mm x 1/2″ for small feeds, 22mm x 3/4″ for main runs, and 28mm x 1″ for larger flows. The thread size must match the female tapping you are going into.
