Solder Ring Wall Plate Elbow

The Solder Ring Wall Plate Elbow is a Solder Ring wall plate elbow for fixing tap and outlet points to a wall, available in 15mm x 1/2" and 22mm x 3/4". Solder is built into the fitting, so the joint is made by cleaning, fluxing and heating, with no extra solder needed.

It turns the pipe through 90 degrees and has a fixing plate, so a tap or valve with a male thread can screw into it firmly on the wall.

To obtain perfect joints, the inside of the fitting and the outside of the copper pipe are cleaned using coarse steel wool, flux paste is applied, the pipe is inserted into the fitting and heat applied from a portable propane torch until a ring of solder shows at the edges of the fitting. To obtain a durable joint, water must not be poured on the solder joint to cool it. Fittings are now made with lead-free solder.

This is a simple and cost-effective method of joining copper tubes to standard EN 1057.

Common Questions

What is a wall plate elbow used for?

It gives a rigid fixing point for a tap or valve that screws into its female thread. Typical uses are outside taps, washing machine valves and shower feeds.

How do I fix it to the wall?

Screw the plate to a solid backing, such as masonry or a timber noggin. A firm fixing stops the pipe twisting when the tap is turned.

Solder first or fix first?

Make the soldered joint first and allow it to cool before fixing the plate. It is easier to heat the joint away from the wall and the plugs.
