Solder Ring Street Elbow 45 Deg 15mm to 54mm

A Solder Ring Street Elbow 45 Deg is a 45 degree copper bend for making a gentle change of direction, and we carry it in 15mm to 54mm. One end is a solder ring socket for the pipe and the other is a spigot that pushes straight into another fitting.

Where it goes

Use it where a run needs to kick off at 45 degrees right next to another fitting, such as a tee. The spigot goes straight into the next socket, which saves room in tight spots under floors.

Fitting tips

Cut the copper square and deburr it. Clean and lightly flux the pipe and socket, push home and heat until solder shows all round. The spigot end has no solder of its own, so it takes the solder from the socket it goes into. Let it cool and wipe off spare flux.

What is a street elbow? It’s an elbow that’s male at one end and female at the other. This one is a 45° copper solder ring version, used to offset pipe by 45° into an external fitting or appliance.

When should I use a street elbow? Use it when you need a 45° offset straight into another fitting or appliance, as the male end goes into the socket without a separate bit of pipe. We do it in 15mm, 22mm and 28mm.

How do I use a solder ring street elbow? Clean the pipe and the inside of the fitting with steel wool, apply flux, push the pipe in and heat with a blowtorch until a ring of solder shows at the edge. Let it cool on its own rather than pouring water on it.

Do I need to add solder to a solder ring street elbow? No, the solder is already inside the fitting. You just clean, flux and heat until the ring shows round the edge.

Is the solder in these fittings lead-free? Yes, solder ring fittings are now made with lead-free solder, so they’re fine on drinking water pipework.
