Flexible Hose Compression X Nut with Isolation Valve 15mm to 22mm

If you came looking for a Speedfit flexible hose with a valve built in, note this one has a Compression end rather than Push Fit. One end takes 15mm or 22mm pipe with an olive, the other has a nut for a tap or appliance thread, and an isolation valve sits in the line.

Compression flexible hose with isolation valve: sizes

The valve lets you shut the water off at the hose. So a tap, cistern or appliance can be changed later without draining the system. That saves fitting a separate service valve and two extra joints under a basin or sink.

Pick the length so the hose runs in a gentle curve with no strain. A 1/2 inch nut usually suits basin and sink taps. Bath taps and a lot of appliance inlets take the 3/4 inch nut.

To fit it, cut the pipe square and clean off any burr. Slip the Compression nut and olive on, push the pipe fully home and tighten. Do the tap end by hand first, check the washer is seated, then nip it up. Do not twist the hose while you tighten. Turn the valve on gently, then look at each end for any sign of a drip.

Compression flexible hose with valve: does it need an olive?

Yes. Its pipe end seals the same way as any Compression joint, with a nut squeezing an olive onto the pipe. Fit a fresh olive and stop once it is firm.

How do I turn the water off at the valve?

Turn the valve a quarter turn so the slot or handle sits across the line of the hose. In line with the hose is open.

Can it go on plastic pipe?

Yes, with the pipe maker’s insert in the plastic end, so the olive does not crush the pipe.
