Tru-Blu Pipe Sealant 118ml is a brush-on thread sealant for metal and plastic pipe threads. A small can with a brush in the lid, sold by Plumb Parts at our Glasgow counter.
Tru-Blu Pipe Sealant 118ml is a blue paste thread sealant in a small can with a brush built into the lid. You brush it on the male thread, screw the joint up and it seals the gaps between the threads, staying soft so the joint can be undone later.
Where Tru-Blu Pipe Sealant 118ml is used
It works on a wide range of pipe materials, for example steel, iron, brass, copper and many plastics. It is popular for threaded joints on water, heating, compressed air and fuel lines, and on fittings that see vibration, such as pumps and compressors. Do not use it on oxygen lines.
Clean the threads and brush an even coat onto the male thread only, working it into the roots. There is no need to coat the female thread on smaller sizes. Then assemble the joint and tighten as normal. Keep the lid on between uses so the paste does not thicken.

Common Questions
Do I coat both threads with Tru-Blu?
On pipe up to 1.1/4″, only the male thread. On bigger sizes the maker says to coat both male and female.
Can it go on plastic threads?
Yes, PVC and polyethylene are on the maker’s list along with the common metals. Brush a thin coat and tighten as normal.
Is Tru-Blu approved for gas in the UK?
We have no UK gas approval for it on file, so for gas work use a compound that carries one. Gas jobs need a Gas Safe registered engineer.
