Underground 45 Degree Bend Double Socket 110mm

For turning a drain through 45 degrees when both pipes meeting it are plain, the 110mm Underground 45 Degree Bend Double Socket does the job. Each end has its own Push-Fit Ring Seal socket, which means no extra coupler and full freedom to cut pipe to length on either side.

What it’s used for

Drains turning the corner of a building, branches coming in from a gully, and runs bending in towards a chamber all use 45s. The double socket version is the one to pick when you’re working with plain ended pipe, or when you’re putting a short cut length between two fittings.

It is also good for repairs. Cut out a damaged section, fit plain pipe, and the sockets on this bend let you join back in without hunting for a spigot.

Fitting tips

• Chamfer cut pipe ends and remove any burrs before jointing.
• Lubricate the pipe, not just the seal, and push it home in one go.
• Two 45s with a short pipe between them make a swept 90 that’s easier to clear than one tight bend.
• Haunch the bend in gravel before backfilling so it can’t rotate.

Common Questions

Why use two 45s instead of one 87.5 degree bend?

A pair of 45 degree bends, joined by a short length of pipe, makes a wider sweep. Waste flows more freely, and drain rods get round more easily, so the corner blocks less often.

What should a 45 degree bend be bedded in?

Lay it on the same granular bed as the pipe, usually pea gravel, and pack more round the sides. That support stops the bend rolling when the trench is backfilled.

Can I connect to an old clay drain with this?

Not directly. Clay and plastic pipe have different outside sizes, so you need an adaptor or a flexible coupling made for that change.
