Why fit a Washing Machine Tee Valve

Most appliance feeds are taken off an existing hot or cold pipe under the sink. Will the sink tap still work with the valve shut?

Yes, the 15mm pipe runs straight through the body. Only the side outlet to the machine is shut off.

Which way should the outlet face?

Turn the branch towards where the machine will stand, so the hose runs straight. A kinked hose slows the fill and can split over time.
