This Water Meter measures how much cold water goes through a supply, so you can see what a property, flat or outbuilding is using. It is a single jet type for cold, clean water up to 30C, offered with 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ connections and in three accuracy classes.
Which class to pick
The class tells you how accurately the meter reads at low flows, from Class B up to Class D. It also affects which way round the meter can go:
- Class B: horizontal installation only
- Class C: vertical or horizontal
- Class D: vertical or horizontal
- Connections: 1/2″, 3/4″ or 1″
The listing states that Class B and Class C are for use as secondary meters only, not for billing, and that Class D can be used as a primary meter for billing. If the meter is for anything to do with charging someone, check with whoever reads it what they need first.
Fitting tips
- It is for cold, clean water only. Keep it off the hot side.
- Follow the flow arrow on the body.
- Put an isolating valve before it, and ideally one after.
- Fit it where the dial is easy to read and safe from frost.
- Flush the pipe first so debris does not get into the meter.
Valves and fittings to go with it are in our water meters section.

Common Questions
Which water meter class do I need?
Class B must be fitted horizontally and is fine for checking use. Classes C and D read more accurately and can go in either direction; the old listing says only Class D is meant for billing.
Can the meter go on a hot water pipe?
No, it is made for cold, clean water only. Fit it on the cold supply before any branch you want to measure.
Do I need valves either side of the meter?
Fit an isolating valve before it so it can be taken out without draining the whole house. One after it as well makes changing it even easier.
