Description

The Xpress Gas 316 Stainless Steel Female Threaded Iron, Pegler XPress code SSG2, is a straight press x female thread connector for XPress stainless gas pipe, sold in 15mm x 1/2″, 22mm x 3/4″, 28mm x 1″ and 35mm x 1 1/4″ for gas engineers. It takes a stainless run onto a cock, meter union, regulator or any male thread.

Aalberts make it in 316L stainless with a yellow HNBR O-ring and yellow marking, so the next engineer can see it is gas. The thread is a parallel Rp female. No flame or heat is needed to make the joint, and there is an insert stop for the pipe end.

Make the threaded joint first with a gas-rated sealant, then press the stainless end. Mark the insertion depth and use M-profile jaws. More fittings are in our XPress Gas 316 stainless steel press fit range.

Common Questions

Do I thread the Xpress Gas 316 Stainless Steel Female Threaded Iron before pressing? Yes. Screw the male fitting in first and seal it, then press. Turning the thread after pressing can strain the joint.

Is XPress Stainless Gas approved for gas? Yes, Aalberts list it for natural gas at up to 5 bar, with the BSI Kitemark among its approvals. All gas work must be done and tested by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Why use stainless rather than copper for gas? Aalberts make it for sites where hydrogen sulphide rules copper out, and where a tougher pipe is wanted. No flame or heat is needed to make the joints.

Which jaws do XPress stainless fittings need? They use the M press profile, so press them with M-profile jaws or collars of the right size. Check your tool covers the size before you start.
