Only if the plate is a split or hinged type that opens round the pipe. A one-piece plate has to go down the pipe before the valve is fitted.

Will it fit a microbore pipe?

It is sized for 15mm pipe, so on smaller pipe it will sit loose. Check your pipe size first.

How do I clean chrome without dulling it?

A soft damp cloth is all it needs. Bleach and scouring pads take the shine off chrome quickly.
