Good spots for it are the cold feed where it rises into the loft, a heating pipe crossing a cold porch, or a stretch under a suspended floor near an air brick. Those are the places where a thicker wall earns its keep. The foam is closed cell polyethylene, so it stays dry.

Slit along one side if the pipe is already fitted, then wrap and tape it shut. Seal the ends to the next piece of lagging, because the gap between lengths is where frost gets in. Near an air brick, keep the lagging continuous right past the opening.
