Description

This PVC Coated Copper Pipe 10mm x 25m comes as a single coil of soft microbore with a plastic sheath bonded round the outside. The coating keeps the copper away from things that attack it and gives a cleaner look where pipe is left on view.

Coated microbore is the usual pick for heating runs buried in screed or plaster, laid under floors, or clipped along skirting where bare copper would tarnish. The sheath protects the tube from lime, cement and other corrosive materials, and it cushions the pipe slightly against rubbing on joists. Like other coiled tube it’s soft, so it bends by hand round corners with very few joints.

PVC coated copper pipe 10mm x 25m at a glance

  • 10mm outside diameter copper, plastic coated
  • 25m coil
  • Soft coil that bends by hand

If you only need bare 10mm, we have uncoated coils in 10m and 25m.

Before you make a joint, score the coating round the pipe with a sharp knife, then slit it and peel it back far enough for the fitting. Don’t cut into the copper underneath. A Compression or Push Fit fitting needs a bare, clean pipe surface to seal on, so strip back a little more than the insertion depth. If you’re soldering, keep the flame off the coating, as it will melt and smoke. Roll the coil out along the floor; pulling turns off the side will kink the soft copper. Use 10mm fittings and a support insert with Push Fit.

Pick up 10mm olives, clips and a mini cutter while you’re here. The rest of our copper pipe range covers bare coils and straight lengths.

Common Questions

Why use PVC coated copper pipe?

The coating keeps lime, cement and plaster away from the copper, so it is the usual choice for pipe buried in floors or walls.

Do I strip the coating before fitting a joint?

Yes. Score round the coating, slit it and peel it back far enough for the fitting, without cutting into the copper.

Can I solder PVC coated copper?

Yes, on the bare copper, but strip the coating well back and keep the flame off it, as it will melt and smoke.
