FloPlast Ring Seal 92.5 Deg Bend Double Socket – SP561 110mm

With Ring Seal sockets at both ends, the FloPlast Ring Seal 92.5 Deg Bend Double Socket SP561 turns a 110mm soil pipe through roughly a right angle. Each end takes a plain length of pipe.

Using the FloPlast Ring Seal 92.5 Deg Bend Double Socket SP561

The slight extra over 90 degrees gives a horizontal run a small fall where it comes off a vertical drop. It is used at the foot of a stack, under floors and where a soil run changes direction.

Both ends need plain pipe, so cut square lengths and chamfer each end. Apply silicone lubricant, push fully into the seal and draw back slightly for expansion.

Support the bend well. At the foot of a stack it takes the weight of everything above, so a firm bracket or bedding is needed.

Think about rodding access near this bend, because blockages often collect at a change of direction. An access pipe just above is a common answer.

Common Questions

Why are soil pipe bends 92.5 degrees? The extra couple of degrees gives a slight fall on the horizontal leg, so it drains towards the stack rather than sitting dead level.

Can you bend soil pipe instead of using a fitting? No, PVC-U soil pipe isn’t made to be bent. Use a moulded bend such as the SP561 for a near right-angle turn.

Can I use the SP561 at the foot of a stack? FloPlast recommend a long radius 87.5 degree rest bend, or two 45 degree bends with at least a 200mm radius, at the base of a stack. A standard short bend there can cause backing up.

Do I need couplings with a double socket bend? No, both ends are sockets, so plain pipe pushes straight into each side. If one end will go into another fitting, the SP161 socket/spigot bend saves a bit of pipe.

How far back do I pull the pipe after pushing it in? Push it fully into the lubricated seal, then draw it back 10mm as FloPlast advise. That gap allows for the pipe expanding.
