Description

A Hep2O Straight Service Valve puts an isolating valve right at the tap, with no extra fitting. Your 15mm pipe pushes into one end, while a 1/2″ nut on the other end goes straight onto a tap tail or a cistern fill valve inlet.

Fitting a Hep2O Straight Service Valve

It suits pipework that comes straight up to the tap, for example through the floor under a basin or a WC. With the washer seated, run the nut onto the tail and nip it up. On the pipe side, sleeve the pipe and push it in until it locks.

Once it is in, a quarter turn shuts the water off to that one outlet. That means a tap cartridge or a cistern valve can be changed in a few minutes without draining the house. If the pipe comes in from the side, the bent version is a better fit.

For a side entry, see the bent service valve under Hep2O fittings.

Common Questions

What is a service valve used for in plumbing? It lets you shut off the water to one item, like a tap, cistern or appliance, without turning off the whole house. This straight version sits in a straight pipe run so you don’t need extra bends.

Can you put this service valve on central heating? No, this Hep2O valve is made for hot and cold water use and isn’t suitable for central heating. It’s rated up to 12 bar and 65°C.

How does the Hep2O service valve work? It’s a quarter turn valve, so a quarter turn of the handle shuts the water off and turning it back opens it again. The pipe pushes straight in, with In4Sure joint recognition to tell you it’s home.

Does a straight service valve restrict flow? When it’s fully open, water runs straight through in line with the pipe, so on a normal domestic feed you shouldn’t notice much difference.

When should I pick a straight service valve over an angled one? Go for the straight one when it sits in a straight run, such as the feed to a tap or cistern. That saves adding bends.

Can the Hep2O service valve be taken off later? Yes, it works with the HepKey demounting system, so you can undo the joints if the pipework needs changing.
