Description

Compression x Compression stands for Compression by Compression, so the Isolating Valve Compression x Compression with Lever fits onto copper or plastic pipe with a nut and olive at each end. The lever on top means you can shut it off by hand, which is quicker than looking for a screwdriver when water is running across the floor.

Using the Isolating Valve Compression x Compression with Lever

15mm suits feeds to taps, cisterns, washing machines and dishwashers. 22mm suits bath taps, cylinder feeds and branches to whole rooms, where a bigger shut-off is handy. The lever runs along the pipe when open and sits across it when closed, so anyone can see the position straight away.

If the pipe is plastic, use inserts in the pipe ends before making the joints. On copper, a clean square cut and a new olive are all you need. Do the nuts up with the valve held steady, and leave enough space round it for the lever to move a full quarter turn.

  • Sizes: 15mm and 22mm
  • Compression ends both sides
  • Quarter-turn lever
  • For isolating single outlets or branches

Screwdriver-slot and full-bore isolators are under Valves & Control Devices.

Common Questions

What does compression x compression mean?

It means both ends are compression joints. Both ends take a nut and olive, so it joins two pipes without solder.

Do I need inserts on plastic pipe with this valve?

Yes. Put a pipe insert in each plastic end before you tighten the nut, or the olive can squash the pipe.

Lever or screwdriver slot, which is better?

A lever is quicker to shut in an emergency. A slot is harder to knock by accident, which some prefer inside a cupboard.
