An IVAR TRV Set 15mm in the angled pattern, sold as a trade pack. Each set pairs a thermostatic radiator valve with a lockshield for 15mm pipe, for fitting new radiators or swapping tired valves. Ask for it at Plumb Parts in Glasgow.
This trade pack holds IVAR TRV Set 15mm valves in the angled pattern, the type you fit where the pipe comes up from the floor and turns into the radiator. A set gives you the thermostatic valve for one end of the radiator and the lockshield valve for the other.
About the IVAR TRV set
As the room heats up the head throttles the valve back, and it opens again as the room cools, so every room keeps its own setting. The lockshield end is set once to balance the system and then left alone. Angled bodies are the usual choice in houses and flats where pipes rise through the floorboards.
Buying the trade pack makes sense when you are doing a whole house, a refit, or a run of flats for a landlord.
Fitting notes from the Glasgow trade counter
Drain the system down, or freeze the pipes, before you take off old valves. Wrap the radiator tails with PTFE, tighten them into the radiator, then make the Compression joints onto the 15mm pipe. Fit the TRV on the flow where you can, unless the instructions say the valve works either way. Once the system is filled and bled, balance it using the lockshields. If the IVAR TRV Set 15mm goes into a room with the main room thermostat, leave that radiator with a plain valve so the two do not fight.

Common Questions
Does the TRV go on the flow or the return?
Many modern TRVs work either way, but the safe rule is the flow pipe unless the valve says bidirectional. Fitting a one-way valve on the return can make it bang.
Will I have to drain down to swap radiator valves?
Usually yes, or at least drain it below the radiator. A pipe freezing kit lets you swap valves without draining, but use it with care.
Can I fit a TRV in the room with the wall thermostat?
It is best not to. The two controls fight each other, so leave that radiator on a plain lockshield or manual valve.
