MT Draw Off Cock Type B 1/2 inch

Screwed into a female tapping, the MT Draw Off Cock Type B is a drain valve with a threaded inlet, sized 1/2″ or 3/4″. It sits at the low point of a system and gives you a hose outlet for draining.

Where the MT Draw Off Cock Type B goes

Threaded drain points are found on boilers, cylinders, tanks, pumps and steel heating systems, as well as on tees with a threaded branch. The 1/2″ size is the common one in homes. The 3/4″ size suits larger tappings on cylinders and commercial plant, where you want water out faster.

Seal the thread with PTFE or paste and screw it in so the outlet ends up pointing down or to the side. Check the spindle is shut tight before you refill. What is the difference between draw off cock types?

Type A has a plain end for soldering onto copper, Type B screws into a threaded tapping, and Type C joins the pipe with a Compression end. Pick the one that matches your connection.

Where would a Type B drain cock go?

Into a female tapping on a cylinder, boiler, tee or tank fitting. That gives a low drain point without cutting into the pipe.

How do I seal the thread?

Wrap PTFE tape on the male thread or use a thread sealant, then screw it in tight with the hose outlet pointing down.
