Description

Sized for 15mm pipe, this Mt Draw Off Cock Type C lets you drain pipework. It gives a controlled outlet for draining water from a system through a hose, rather than cutting a pipe or opening a joint.

Using a Mt Draw Off Cock Type C

Every system needs drain points at its lowest spots: the foot of risers, under a cylinder, at the bottom of a heating loop and on long runs that dip. Fit them during first fix, because adding one later usually means a full drain down anyway. The 15mm size suits domestic copper pipework.

  • Size: 15mm
  • Drain valve with hose outlet
  • Opened by turning the spindle
  • For heating and water pipework

Before ordering, check how you plan to connect it to the pipe, because draw off cocks come in different end patterns. Once fitted, close the spindle fully and check for drips. When draining, run the hose to a drain or outside, open the cock and open a vent at the top of the system. Compare it with the other patterns in our Draw Off Cocks.

Common Questions

How do I fit a Type C drain off cock?

Cut into the pipe with a tee, or fit it on the end of a pipe with its Compression nut and olive. Tighten with a spanner on the body to stop it turning.

Where is the best place for a drain cock?

At the lowest point of the pipework, so water drains out of the whole run. Put one at the bottom of each drop that cannot drain elsewhere.

My drain cock will not shut off fully: why?

Grit on the washer or seat stops it sealing. Open it fully to flush, then close it firmly; if it still drips, replace it.
