Common Questions
What is a wall plate elbow? It is another name for a back plate elbow. It brings a pipe to a fixed outlet on the wall, finishing in a threaded connection such as 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch.
What does 15 x 1/2 mean on the XPress back plate elbow? It means 15mm copper tube with a 1/2 inch thread. 12 x 1/2 inch, 18 x 1/2 inch and 22 x 3/4 inch are also listed.
Can this back plate elbow be used on gas? No, it is for hot and cold water, heating and chilled water. Gas needs a gas-rated fitting, fitted by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Should the back plate be fixed before pressing? Yes, screw the back plate down firmly first, then press the joint. Pressing first and fixing after can put strain on the finished joint.
What pressure and temperature is the XPress back plate elbow rated to? It is rated to 16 bar and works from -20°C to +110°C. That covers hot and cold water, heating and chilled water.
Is the XPress back plate elbow approved for drinking water? Yes, it is WRAS approved and Kitemarked to BS EN 1254-7, so it can go on hot and cold water supplies.
