The Polyplumb Reducing Coupler is a straight connector with a 22mm socket on one end and a 10mm socket on the other. It takes a run from full size down to microbore in one step.
Where a Polyplumb Reducing Coupler is handy
Microbore heating often starts from a 22mm flow and return, then drops to 10mm near the radiators. This coupler does that change without stacking reducers. It also helps when you are replacing old pipework and the new run has to meet a 10mm tail. Both ends are Push Fit, so it can go onto plastic or copper.
- Size: 22mm x 10mm
- Straight reducing coupler
- Polyplumb Push Fit socket on each end
- Stiffener needed in plastic pipe
Push a stiffener into each piece of plastic pipe and mark the depth. Feed the pipes in until they bottom out. Because the 10mm pipe is so small, take care cutting it square and keep it clean, as even a little grit can upset the seal. For other reducers and couplers, see our Polyplumb Fittings.

Common Questions
What is a reducing coupling? It’s a straight fitting that joins a bigger pipe to a smaller one. The Polyplumb version is push-fit, so there’s no flame or solder.
What is a reducing coupling used for? It steps pipework down a size in a straight line, for example a 22mm heating run dropping to 10mm microbore to feed radiators.
How do you fit a reducing coupler? Cut the pipe square with a proper pipe cutter, deburr it, mark the insertion depth and push it fully home. Start with the larger pipe, as it’s easier to get the fitting lined up that way.
Do I need pipe inserts? Yes on plastic pipe, as the insert keeps the pipe round where the grab ring grips. Copper doesn’t need one but should be deburred after cutting.
Which sizes and codes are there? This one is PB582210, which goes from 22mm to 10mm.
Does it matter which way the water flows? No, it isn’t directional, so flow can go either way. Try to put it where you can get at it later.
Can a Polyplumb reducing coupler be taken apart? Yes, it can be dismantled if you need to alter the pipework later on.
